Tier three says all retail businesses can open. Visitors to the market need to be able to justify their reasons to come to the market and bear in mind government rules about mixing and socialising apply EVERYWHERE. This means we can run a complete Christmas market. There will be gifts and a wider range of household craft items. The market will continue into the afternoon and we will do everything we can to space stalls by putting some up town on the Old Market Place (near Top Kens /opposite Wirksworth Fish Bar). Doing this has not been simple – needing discussions with the local authority, police and Wirksworth shops to make sure it is practical.
There are barely any places to settle at the market, so if you buy takeaway PLEASE take it away! For those wanting to take exercise we are only a few steps away from open space around St Marys Church and the Meadows. WIrksworth is close to High Peak trail and Derbyshires’ ancient Portway. There are many great quiet walks that can be started from Wirksworth.
All are welcome to come to the market and shop. Use the hand sanitiser, don’t pick thinks up if you don’t intend to buy, give other people space and please keep moving.
